Silybum marianum, Milk Thistle


Spiny biennial plant with large white-marbled, shiny leaves.
Produces purple flowerheads with spiny bracts from mid to late summer. The flowerheads can be dried for the use in dried arrangements.
Milk thistle has been used medicinally for at least 2000 years.
Native to the Mediterranean area.
Height: 1.5 metres.
