Valeriana officinalis, Valerian
Hardy perennial herb with pinnately divided foliage and heads of sweetly scented, white or pale pink flowers atop tall, slender stems. It blooms from early to late summer.
This plant has been used as a medicinal herb since ancient times. It has also been used in perfumes and to flavour food.
Valerian contains a cat attractant, so it is often alluring to cats.
