An ancient vegetable that is closely related to tomatoes. It is native to Mexico, where it has been cultivated for thousands of years.
Tomatillo grows green, tomato-like fruits that are surrounded by a papery husk, which dries and splits at maturity.
The fruits are used in salsas, soups, salads etc...
Here in northern Europe tomatillos are often greenhouse-cultivated, but we actually think they grow much better in a sunny spot outside.
